The author is a long time climate change denier. He's apparently just moved onto a different phase of the denial strategy now that AGW is largely undeniable.

It's much improved by 19.10 on my machine, which IIRC went from libinput 1.12 to 1.14. The thumb detection (which was wrong just often enough to be torture) in Pop 19.04 is pretty solid in 19.10. But then again I don't use anythi

I moved from Mac to Pop (on a Dell XPS 9750 w/ 4k screen) about 3 months ago. Honestly the OS has been pretty much fine. When I installed it was on Pop 19.04, and I had to manually update to kernel 5.3 in order to get some hardware s

I've always wondered what evidence remains at the test site. Has nature completely covered up what happened once there? Or is the destruction too indelible? Has any reporter gone and explored that site?

Hello Bill Gates (who will never read this). You are a solutions guy, and a technology guy. Unsurprisingly, your blog lists lots of good technologies and solutions. But climate change has shifted from a technological problem to a policy p

Strong public policy can save the world. Nuclear can help. But, without public policy, nothing will happen. So call it cap-and-trade, or green new deal, or cap-and-dividend, but we need it now.

Did you read the article? The fixer just paid the folks administering the test to let someone else take it, or to let them fix the answers after the fact. Also, agree with the person who mentioned Goodhart's Law.

My opinion: There is no solution to this problem without strong public policy. What we have here is a problem of the market to deal with a strong negative externality. There are many ways to deal with this, but they all involve some sort

In supply-constrained markets, wouldn't any benefit from this eventually accrue to landlords rather than renters? Put another way, if landlords are charging what the market can bear, and the market can suddenly bear 25% more, won&#x27

I wish we could just try something. Ok, so maybe IRV is worse than some other things, or maybe it's better. Let's try it. Or let's try range voting. Or approval. Or Condorcet IRV. Or whatever. We have lots of choices

I've not received one single usable resume. Lots of headhunters regularly send me email now, though, so the admonishment to not use the contact info provided for commercial purposes is not being heeded. I've given up posting.

When I graduated from a far-from-top-10 CS BA program in 2002, I couldn't get the time of day from any of the top software firms. I spent 9 months throwing resume after resume down the corporate waste chute. Then I noticed that Apple
