Perhaps an entire page is needed to explain that what you suggest is not at all the reason :)

So perhaps "kids" is not the right word to use? Maybe some term that doesn't try to draw non existent lines based on age.

How about: Rubin left the company, no one picked up the robotics org in the way it needed, and now the vesting schedules are seeing people leave? I don't know why ageism is the most likely theory.

And those things deserve compensation. Full time pay? I mean everything is negotiable but that one is a hard sell.

No, certainly not. Most of my off-hours oncall shifts look like me sleeping while nothing is happening. But it is a nice bonus that I'd prefer not to give up.

"Both teams took advantage of a phenomenon called the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect that occurs when light left over from the big bang passes through hot gas." That just seems unreal to me. Edit: To clarify, I'm not accusing it

I agree. Once we passed the 640k mark it all became an excuse for lazy tool development.

If you can afford a child's closet in SF, you can afford a small house in NJ that is far closer than the 2+ hours you'd need to spend each way from PA.

The title makes it seem (to me) like they're finding that open plan offices reduce sickness. But they're not reporting on the absence of sickness, but rather absence due to sickness, which they found occurred at a higher rate in o

None of those things you mentioned are the core of page rank; they're just extra heuristics. None of that matters if they don't get linked by other sites with high page rank.

Now that seems like a move that would get picked up by monopoly watch dogs.

If their goal was to be innovative and bring new ideas to the programming world, you could argue that they failed. But their goal was to make it easier for people to do large scale distributed system programming. In that, they succeeded.

Next to the cost of a submarine I believe "excess stock" inefficiencies will be unnoticeable. Probably compared to the cost of custom hardware, too.

At Google, comp comes from how effective your management chain makes your case. It has a large subjective component.

I think this is the kind of problem that gets solved by market forces. If the lines are too long, someone opens up a new station and has lots of customers right away.
