Maybe the dude wants to just hack on his favorite product instead of run a company? Your comment is inappropriate.

The impression is not limited to non-Americans. Filing law suits is tedious and expensive. The common defendants (big companies) like to give the impression that frivolous lawsuits are common because it makes people feel bad about filing th

The bit that leaves out is that this already happens without affirmative action.

That is... a really silly position to take. (I work for Google but on nothing remotely related)

I was not disputing the effect you brought up - only questioning its relevance. The study I linked is one that seems more relevant to the topic at hand - certainly more relevant to the point I was trying to make originally. About your edit:

Do you imagine that some conclusion about my argument can be drawn from this quotation? Because I do not see the path. Take a look here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22496180

Google is trying to differentiate itself from the rest of the system. The system, on context, clearly refers to the world of education and technology as a whole. In fact, there doesn't need to be an explicit bad actor to have detriment

Weird that a group of people who spend their youth being told that they're naturally bad at math and critical reasoning have hangups when given these tests. Only explanation is that their doubters were right.

Are you differentiating Google from other employers here, or making a more general comment on 9-5 style careers?

Briefly (and this is covered in other comments), energy efficiency and energy output per dollar are related but not identical. An extremely cheap solution that can store energy well might be just fine in the face of huge amounts of surplus

Yeah that sounds pretty risky too. Fortunately in that case most countries won't extradite, but I'd avoid visiting Saudi Arabia after that move.

There is ensuring that American actors adhere to the standards set by the countries they're operating in (which we should do). And then there is ensuring the standards set by the countries they're operating in match the standards

I'm a SWE at Google. I get in at 8, leave at 3:50, maybe do a bit of work on the bus home. My schedule has caused no one any problems.

I don't think your personal attacks lie within the standards set by this community. There are many ways of disagreeing, even vigorously, without being a jackass. It's discrediting to yourself.

As my sibling post states, you're being silly here. Corporations are run by people, and they draw on a huge variety of sources to make their decisions. Including, obviously, some that are not rational.

The rationality of the players is central to any argument you make in the line of "there is a competitive labor market and that salary offers thus must be competitive". If the hiring managers (of any gender) have an irrational bia

Yes, it is still harassment with the genders reversed. What would make you think otherwise? But that's not actually the bar. It's important to recognize that men and women don't come in on equal footing for these interactions

In context, "have octaves" mean treating notes whose frequencies are powers of two as the "same", just shifted up. I believe the pentatonic scale still has this feature.
