So that's Amazon, Facebook and Microsoft that failed with phones. I think it's safe to say we will never see a viable third option in mobile. Might as well start thinking of the next great paradigm shift but even there it's h

Finding out that we are living in a computer simulation would probably be interesting for a few hours before everyone eventually realizes it ultimately changes nothing about our lives.

I like SQL. I've never failed to do anything with it and find it very powerful. But while that aspect of the SQL experience I'm comfortable with, I'm still just a developer and not a DBA. I don't even _want_ to be a DBA.

I'm wondering if it's easier or harder for cops to forcefully unlock your phone using faceID or touchID

Is it that hard to ignore your Facebook feed? I don't understand the people that find peace only after deleting the whole app from their phones. I've had a FB account since inception and it has loads of people in it. Yet I probabl

Small price to pay for keeping some semblance of a functional working environment at Google.

Every article I've read about this building in the past has gone to great pains to point out the artistry, elegance and taste that was applied in building it. I now find it highly amusing that at Apple, form over function won out yet a

I last used Delphi at varsity. I was the only student in my class that chose it for my assignments and final year projects. That period was the happiest time of my life as a programmer even though relatively speaking I didn't know much

I don't know why people that love Apple find it so hard to admit that ultimately Apple first and foremost care about money. (And that's ok!) That's _all_ that this issue is about at the end of the day.

Well, really it ended up boiling down to how late they were to enter the market. By the time they had set a toe in, the app gap was already far too wide to make a difference. They could have built an OS that was light-years ahead of iOS and

So here's a question. Facebook seems to have a really bad rep here on HN. But I'm wondering how many people here that hate Facebook, run their own businesses or have apps that include some form of Facebook interaction whether it b

I'm reading Dennet's From Bacteria to Bach and Back right now. Highly recommended if you're interested in philosophical discussions about this sort of stuff. I'm finding it highly entertaining and deliciously provocative

I'm male and I find it so bizarre that men behave in this manner. But it happens so often that I wonder sometimes if I'm the one who is not normal. I love women. I am attracted to them constantly. But the thought of making sexual

I'm extremely fascinated by this topic. It's amazing how something as simple as a toilet, that we take for granted everyday, is such a monumentally difficult thing to re-engineer cheaply for the world's poor.

Mildly amusing is how everyone else is wrong until Apple does it. If you're going to use these things with a keyboard and like it then why was Microsoft so roundly mocked for championing touch screen laptops in the first place?
