Blade Runner is less of an adaptation and more of a "inspired by", I think. The book and the film(s) stand on their own just fine.

The "big burst" problem is usually solved by a few (say 4) plants, not one. But another thing about growing anything is that it works better if you work around it's schedule rather than the other way around. Hothousing an

Absolutely. IIRC most tax codes have specific rounding rules. Also e.g. some countries have done away with pennies or penny equivalents and have rules about how you are supposed to handle that, etc.

I think what you mean here is that floating point numbers and the usual operators (+,*) and inverses (-,/) do not work the same as Reals (i.e. they don't form a field), but people often behave as if they do. This is a common confu

Startups in the valley were a thing well before low interest rates were even imagined. Interest rates change the landscape, but it's hardly a prerequisite.

That's more a feature of the messed up way US ties health insurance to employment, isn't it? Very few layoffs venture close to criminal territory, more part of how business works.

The total impact of non-violent crimes can be much worse; a blanket rule like that wouldn't make much sense. Would you rather be robbed at gunpoint with no physical harm and lose $100, or have your retirement savings entirely disappear

No, it's pretty much all helium for clinical work. Short of a quench (catastrophic heating, effectively) the most modern units hardly lose any, and often need less in the first place. An old machine might cost you near 6fig/year

This isn't about the regulations (which must exist and do have some parallels) but about systemic differences in how the industries work which mean that it wouldn't play out the same way it has in fast food franchises, is all.

That’s always an option I suppose . Canada is huge, and its population isn’t. As a result there are unincorporated billages/whatever you want to call them, where you are on your own for services. I suppose it’s not a bad arrangement
