I hope we don't move in that direction. It would be a waste of perfectly fine CPU cycles and memory. Admittedly natively built modules pose a tooling challenge but we've been doing that for decades. WebAssembly could serve as a cr

In general I find that C# builds are fairly quick. Nonetheless Ruby is a pleasure to work with. As for other interpreted languages, JavaScript is a mixed bag. The Webpack/Babel stack can be smooth if hot reloading and such are set up w

A project I'm working on now relies on a third party platform that takes fairly long to reload after changes. I've managed to run some parts standalone which has been super helpful but in general there's a lot of waiting. In

Apart from being spam, this site is a whopping 9 MB to load, 3.5 MB of which is JavaScript spread out over no fewer than 35 files. Among the 30 stylesheets there are three separate copies of Bootstrap.

It's super impressive! But it won't run on 64 bit Windows. I recently wrote a simple 32 bit Windows app that runs on 3.11 (with the 32 bit subsystem installed) through Windows 10. On the more recent Windows versions it supports th

I like the style this uses to explain the else-if construct. A few fundamental concepts are explained and combined in a way that it not only makes else-if obvious but also anything else using these fundamentals. SICP also uses that style th

Huge props to the team for finding this out. What a nasty issue. One question about the intro, which states that this is the first mass produced AMP architecture, but isn't the PlayStation 3's Cell CPU one?
