Thanks for this comment, that clarifies things a lot for me. I think it should be in the docs (with equal brevity) if not already.

Does it have to be different from Apple and Google's to be worth complaining about? The real competition here for a lot of users is against older versions of MS's own OSs.

Ah that makes sense, thanks. I missed the implicit "we're in a class definition" in the original post.

i think the poster thinks that with the fat arrow definition, name becomes an implicitly called function wherever it is used. I wouldn't like that either. but, I dont know if thats really the case though (I dont know ceylon). I think

I got the sense that this is more about raising recognition that F# isn't tied completely to the MS ecosystem which is facing something of an uncertain future.

I can assure you that there's a whole culture of Americans that aren't loud, but they don't tend to travel the world or congregate in big cities, and aren't much represented on TV except as gross caricatures.

Especially the heavy EJB part - when the heaviness of your designs starts to make it into book titles as something to be avoided, it may be time to reconsider the design :) "Expert One-on-One J2EE Development without EJB Paperback –

Yeah this seams to me like a repudiation of the whole idea of .NET, as a multi-language system. They may add support for F# later, but by that time, the damage will have been done because the message is clear: "use anything other than

"What are two different equations with the same solution as 3(y-1) = 8?" How is this scored if the student just adds 1 to both sides, then 2 to both sides, for the other two equations? 3(y-1)+ 1 = 8 + 1 3(y-1)+ 2 = 8 + 2 Is that a

This is a good point, for those who might be interested enough by the hoopla to be trying to see it through someone's telescope. Full moon is the worst time to view the moon through a telescope. Everything is washed out and lacks sh

It is a bit of an exaggerated term, it raises expectations to a point that it can't really meet. The "super moon" to me is from last quarter to new moon when it's out of the way and not flooding the sky with its unwanted

I think what we need is a nice standard icon representing clearly that a product does NOT communicate wirelessly at all. Then let consumers decide which devices are useful to have connected as part of an IOT and which they would rather not

I'm not sure \ is better than "fun", fun does have a certain clarity when reading code, and it's only three extra keystrokes if you include the space, all easier to type than backslash which needs a pinky stretch. Hones

It seems to me a lot of people are turned off by it. I'd rather just say "hi" myself when I've got nothing, but I notice people stop responding at all (won't even say hi back) when I do that. So, this universe.

Yeah a lot of us do it even if we find it awkward, because we feel it's better than seeming cold and smug. It's also kindof an invitation I guess for real talk in case the other party really has something ready to chew on with yo

I'm late to this conversation, but thanks for this information. I'm still trying to understand the role of the source language in AOT compiling - is it actually looking at the source language and not the IL bytecode? If so, is t

I don't see upgrade pricing mentioned anywhere - If one already has Visual Studio 2013 Pro with MSDN (active), is it necessary to repurchase to get 2015?

Actually PC sales seem to be leveling off to me. Down 11% in 2013, but only down .8% in 2014. I can also understand 2015 being slow, some (like me) are waiting for Windows 10.

When you only consider Linux (Debian) packages to begin with, then score risk based on how widely used they are, its no surprise that core packages top the list. Just saying...

Yes I see you are right, thanks for the clarification. The base Powershell.exe with a better window wrapper like cmdr actually should make a nice combination. It's really too bad the limitation on the nicer ISE though. It does make a

Checked exceptions don't work very well with generic higher order functions like map and fold, which is probably why OCaml chose unchecked exceptions. Even Java has backed away from checked exceptions in its streams api, so you see th
