"What are two different equations with the same solution as 3(y-1) = 8?" How is this scored if the student just adds 1 to both sides, then 2 to both sides, for the other two equations? 3(y-1)+ 1 = 8 + 1 3(y-1)+ 2 = 8 + 2 Is that a full-credit answer (it is technically correct)? Or do they want movement towards a solution? This seems very ambiguous as to what they want which I've noticed is common in CC questions.
