This is a good place to start for sure. There is a DOE equivalent here: https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/aeo/pdf/electricity_generation.... . One simple issue with LCOE estimates is that their revenues are not al

That’s a good question since usually these are built into the docker-compose by default. I think my answer would be that it’s to get the same build environment on my Mac as on prod (i.e. a Linux server), but in practice I don’t think platfo

I've tried several boilerplates like SaaSPegasus and one thing I can't really get around is that I feel like the experience of developing in a docker-compose with two build-and-serve containers (e.g. one with gunicorn auto-reload

Good luck trying to use these tools with anything other than the blessed path of node on the backend. The JS ecosystem absolutely has the problem of "too many compilers", and of course as I'm typing this there's someone

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you hadn't, just offering a reason why I had a strong opinion. Am I misunderstanding what you mean by counterparty? In the US, banks provide the tax equity and sometimes the project finance, but the P

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand your argument here. I work in the area. I can understand revenue uncertainty, but the solution is to sign a PPA. When Texas transitioned to a nodal market many existing generators got grandfathered into

I've been using Gaudi chips for a little bit and they are totally fine (and the software stack is even pretty good, or at least the happy path is mostly covered for me). For example I set up training with autocasting, activation checkp

That's not really 100% true. A lot of the data this is trained on is ERA5, which appears to be highly dense in both time and space, but is assimilation data inferred from much sparser observations. I wouldn't say it's inaccur

I'm not sure, but there's an in-depth exploration of the monitor here: https://tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/acer_nitro_xv273k.htm Reddit also seems to have some people who have managed to get 144 with FreeSync, b

I recently recently upgraded my main monitor from 1440p x 144hz to 4K x 144hz (with lots of caveats) and I agree with your assessment. If I had not made significant compromises, it would have cost at least $500 to get a decent monitor, whic

You see this again and again - when you gate technical features behind an enterprise barrier, the adoption rate is very low. AMD messed this up with CDNA and RDNA (now merging to UDNA), but Nvidia had it right from the start: CUDA from the

No need for a black market, there's plenty of public ones (Backmarket, eBay, etc.). That being said $200 seems not terrible given the step change in performance since then (I own a 2019 MBP and think we were very unlucky with our purch

Once long ago our family Windows computer had a motherboard failure and I convinced my parents to buy just a replacement motherboard in the right shape (maybe processor as well, now that I think about it), and we tried to fix it. While the

I feel like this is a weirdly cynical response. GLP-1s actually inhibit appetite. I took a friend on them once to a nice cafe I’d found and even though he agreed their pastries were delicious he didn’t finish his and took it home. There see

I couldn’t upvote this enough. A lot of drive-by cynicism I see these days is really just a lack of curiosity and bad faith assumptions (this guy must be an idiot, etc.). I see it a lot in practice especially when discussing early-stage bus

That's fair. There's a lot of software that is generally ok to use in beta, however, and this has been in beta for a long time.

Any possibility you’d add support for a Mac Mini deployment? I think the extra complexity would be from changing the Docker images, but of course the devil is in the details. I just have a Mac Mini and it would be great to self-host some st

I think Harper is very cool, and you should sell it better. It's a local-only low latency & static (no Python) LanguageTool alternative. It doesn't use a large language model.

It’ll be something that supports oneAPI, so the PVC 1100/1500, the Flex GPUs, the A-series desktop GPUs (and B-series when it comes out). Not Gaudi 3 afaict, that has a custom toolchain (but Falcon Shores should be on oneAPI).

I have the opposite memory :) I remember writing complex applications in Flask and it just worked right away, and as our performance / complexity grew it kind of kept up because it was very modular.
