Code complete using the older APIs is a disappointing. As only a casual Swift dev, one of the hardest things to get a handle on is the myriad of ways there have been to do things in Swift and Apple frameworks over the years. The online comm

Agree! I think people are sooo scared of cancer (which is understandable) and have had 15 years of the sun screen industry beating the “always wear sun screen” drum (not that they are financially incentivised here at all!) that many people

Don’t worry, I’m old too - that’s why I recommended it. That or Django or even NestJS running in SSR mode.

Yes. I worked on the warehousing developer team for a mid sized UK retailer (£75 million) and they had a home grown ERP system and it was a competitive advantage. It wasn’t perfect, the business makes trade offs, they see expensive coddled

Htmx isn’t designed to work with JSON APIs at all. It needs HTML back from the server. You can detect when a request comes from htmx with a header it adds though so that allows you to return a different response if you want.

UK is still building we’re just struggling for space and already have a tonne of railways. The issue here is more about getting extra capacity with what we have.

Maybe, but I've got quite a few friends in that do similar amounts of driving so I might not be as far out there as you think. But I agree we are at the higher end.

Wife worked for Polestar at the time and finally had the chance to get on the company lease scheme. We knew she was leaving by this point but decided a couple of months with an EV was worth a try to see if it fit our lifestyle. Glad we did

We found that 330 miles to be very unlikely as well. More like 270 and then you need to make sure you’ve got 40 miles spare to make sure you can make it to a working charge without going flat. So in reality the comfortable working assumptio

Yeh we were charging from a normal domestic socket plug in charger. If we’d spent the £1,500 on the dedicated charger I’m sure my view would be different. Either way I can get 500 miles out of an ICE and refill it in 2 minutes. EVs are grea

Specifically we had to plan our charging for a few days ahead because, without a home charger, we couldn’t get more than a 25% charge overnight. So unless we wanted to start our journey with an expensive fast charge we would need to plan ou

We had a Polestar 2 as our only car for about 8 weeks at the start of the year, we knew we’d only have it for a short time so didn’t install a charger to the house. It was a total nightmare, we had to think days ahead to any big trip to mak

Retuning the data as a json object vs sending it back with the relevant html really isn’t that much more data in the grand scheme of things. It’s more data but not very much, it’s not like you don’t need to sync with the backend with a json
