tbf, irobot being independent killed them. Sometimes it works well for these companies that would otherwise die. I strongly doubt cursor would survive against anthropic in 5-10 years.

Maybe. Search ads likely make Google more money than they pay apple. For AI, Google currently loses money. If they eventually make money via ads, then sure. Else, apple will have to pay them

Playing devil's advocate - the measure of success of welfare isn't in the budget spent on it but public outcomes. That said, it is true more taxes or expenditure aren't the panacea that the left might think it is.

Both can be true. US spends a ton but people feel the pain because the money is spent poorly

"crippling recession due to defaulting" - we will just borrow more as usual. Not like our taxes are enough to fund the nation in any year (war or no war).

How do you deal with setbacks both in work and life, and show resilience and belief you can find a solution? Is this innate or something you worked on? Also, are there things you think are impossible for you to do?

Isn't this what Karpathy does as well in the Zero to Hero lecture series on YT? I am sure this is great as well!

In a way, the people that despise Indians most are Indians themselves :) I say it in a non violent way, as a self critique and a welcome embrace of ideas outside of the Indian mold.

There are also Indians who loathe being on such teams and actively seek diverse meritocratic teams, as one of those Indians.

Pytype is used heavily inside Google so they bear the penalty likely more than you. Besides, py typing libraries is a dynamically changing landscape so it isn't anything out of the norm. Not everything is an abandoned project, and if a

Is AI not useful to you? I've sped up my SWE work significantly (10x). Not sure why the cynicism.

We have AI, a marvel that might change the arc of humanity and an epoch in our timeline. Fire, wheel etc. and AI.

"I’m teaching myself LLM internals by re-implementing the stack from first principles." - curious what resources you're using? Any books or courses, or just building it straight up? Great work!

All of Google ML runs on TPUs tied to $ billions in revenue. You make it sound like TPUs are a Google X startup that's going to get killed tomorrow.

Thanks! I do use GroundingDino + SAM2, but haven't tried realisticVisionV60B1_v51HyperVAE-inpainting! Will do! And will try flux kontext too. Thanks!

My question wasn't about inpainting but eraser inpainting models. Most inpainting models replace objects instead of erasing them even though the prompt shares an intent to delete

Q. Any of you know models that do well at deleting objects from an image i.e. inpainting with mask with intention to replace mask with background? Whatever I've tried so far leaves a smudge (eg. LaMa)

Interior design with image gen AI models. Getting AI to follow your prompt with inpainting is painful.

+1 on this, I've been pushing my team to measure impact more. Else we remain a team of high value that remains unrealized and therefore underfunded, which hurts us all.

Very cool!! I am unfortunately very far from an AI expert. Can you share how you built this? Did you have to train your own model, or is it an open source model that you finetuned for climbing?

HIGHLY highly recommend The Bureau, which is the most real spy show I have ever watched. The Americans is excellent (i've watched all of it) but has some unreal TV-like drama that The Bureau is able to avoid and is imo the pinnacle of

They do use JDBC and even allow you to customize your choice of driver version for a db. It is a bit clunky when one has to resolve missing dependencies but that's just how it works I guess.

Let's simplify this. Do you think there is a long term incentive for Waymo to not maximize utilization of waymo cars by pricing "correctly" (based on supply, demand and costs)?

It is still a fun novelty mode of ride with limited supply and is priced accordingly and is not a mass transport option yet. Once the supply of cars rises the prices will fall to establish a new equilibrium hopefully much lower than Uber.

I imagine you need someone who's technical in the hardware/robotics space. There's also the route of doing a masters perhaps, or working at a robotics startup before you start your own company. I am curious about YC's th
