I don't think you need something that heavyweight to do this (although maybe for an entire headline). Amazon has had the "Statistically Improbable Phrases" feature for books for quite a while now.

Seconded and I'm glad I saw this before I got too deep into it. I'm wary to try even something totally open source because of course their is the adoption cost (do you move all of your old notes over? do you have a split brain?

Re: criticism 1, this is mostly true. However the fact that it's "not google" adds some privacy, or at least diffuses vulnerabilities. Regarding criticism 2, you have to opt-in. Otherwise brave is just a browser with adbloc

The good news is you can turn off most of those and truecaller still works. I just checked and I only allow it access to Contacts, SMS and Phone which, given the purpose of the app, seems appropriate.

If you want absolute feature parity with dropbox, then yes I suppose you do. But you don't have to stand up a server just to sync files between your devices.

I think calling it peer is misleading/imprecise, since in the context of the internet peer/peering refers to the interconnection of two networks, having your own AS, running BGP, etc.
