This is magical, I can't correlate the combination of visual/symbolic/musical elements to any real world analogues. Auditory/musical interactions should be explored by more people in the startup community.

At my company I feel like we have a pretty good system set in place for screening technical skills. The issue is that after 3-5 phone screens, and a day long in person plus a happy hour afterwards, there's still a significant cultural risk

I agree with the flawed voting scheme. What I don't understand is why the number one voted comment thread is on how great C# is when I can't last remember an article on HN talking about C#. This whole thread seems so contradictory to my per

The trouble, as always, are the more vulnerable people in society. Folks who may not have a lot of options, or really need to stay at a current job. They are more vulnerable to this sort of exploitation. I wish facebook would organize an ad

As a long time skeptic, but a new convert to TDD, it also occurred to me that I was also reaping the benefits of immediate feedback after each build analogous to Bret Victor's theme in his talk and demo at CUSEC. It definitely increased my

This talk really resonated with me. As engineers, I think we can acknowledge the power of abstraction/reason/focus. But too many times we find ourselves idolizing these things. A couple golden quotes from the video: "The left hemisphere is

I had the same reaction, the talk was amazing. And for me, it finally made it clear how someone can do something as hard as a startup and not give up: it takes belief in a (time invariant) principle.

What's nice about this is you don't need to switch screens to pause the music if you find yourself writing/coding and need some quiet when you're in the zone. Granted you can do this with the mac play/pause physical buttons but that would r
