“See the best of Washington DC” -> sends you to Rosslyn. Those poor tourists… Joking aside I love fun new excuses to explore the city, that’s a great theme for DC.

There's a couple of good videos on these (and other home laser fun) on the youtube channel Les' Lab. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0ptp5KuvAJmp8kRV8dqZDA

I learned cursive in school and haven’t used it at least 20 years, except to read historical curiosities like old letters. While I think it will still be many generations before people can get away with not being able to hand write at all,

There were a lot of negatives about pensions; employee mobility and companies trying everything possible to weasel out of promised benefits being the biggest ones. The problem isn't retirement accounts, it's a lack of mandatory fu

In the US, there are a number of buildings with their own zip code, but you can do a little better. The president has 20500-0001 reserved, but even he loses out to someone more important: Smokey the bear is the only resident of 20252 =). h

If you've been on a corporate earnings call or watched a presidential speech, I think you'd agree that jargon and statement-couching is the norm when you're addressing a large, potentially hostile group. It's not necessa

Fair enough! I'm surprised by how many people feel this way in this thread. Out of curiosity, do you also think that the majority of Americans feel that way? My guess is it's gotta be at least 90/10 that would be less likely

That's nice that you don't care, people who cost others money rarely do. I hope you move somewhere next to other neighbors who are on the same page, and it all works out fine, and i mean that non-sarcastically. That's why I&#

I have experience on this, and let me tell you, some of the people who believe in the 'fundamental right to have broken down cars in my yard' are _not_ the sort of suffering neighbors who need a community and some understanding. W

I think much of it depends on density. If we're in a tight suburb with 1/4 acre plots, my neighbor's weed infested yard with a broken down car makes it much harder to sell _my_ house. If they move in after I do it's plau

If I move next-door to you and start a garbage dump out front, this affects you substantially doesn't it? People should have to pay for their externalities. I think the policy in question is stupid, but so is being absolutist about it.
