It’s not too bad on modern machines from established players. But those are $10k. The pins at auctions are much more affordable but quite likely have multiple issues — a troubleshooting nightmare.

Hi, I used to be a partner in a now-defunct arcade bar. AMA. We succumbed to a combination of COVID and rising rents. Retail margins are thin even with huge alcohol markups. The money we made on the games roughly paid the salary for our ful

I’m glad to hear there are actual ($) resources supporting Inkscape. I wish there were enough to support a UX designer as well.

Haha “stupidly simple” except RJ sounded like he was playing two guitars simultaneously and people heard the rumor he’d sold his soul to the devil in exchange for guitar skills and collectively decided “this checks out”

I’m in Raleigh NC so I saw the chart, sighed, and hit the back button. Commercial space whether Class A office or industrial/warehouse and everything between is outrageously expensive.

Really enjoyed this spot although we could only stay for an hour or so. The Asheville Pinball Museum (East Coast) is mentioned in the comments but I personally prefer the one in nearby Hendersonville NC (owned by the same folks from what I

I wasn’t 100% naive going in, but I wish someone had sent me this article before we opened an arcade bar. The economics of retail small businesses that pay living wages is break even at best unless you’ve somehow hit the jackpot on rent

On the one hand, the author is correct that rent-seeking on Akzindenz (a font that predates Helvetica for godsake) is some crazy bullshit. On the other, modern typographers are some of the lowest paid graphic artists out there. Doing a gazi

We were lucky enough to have one of these at my (now defunct) arcade bar a few years ago. Absolutely gorgeous on a CRT. I never noticed the pixels feeling particularly large — I’ll have to remember to check that out the next time I (hopeful

I interfaced an ESP8266 with the switch matrix to do much less impressive things on more modern pins so I’m kindof blown away. It’s tricky piggybacking the signal lines and I feel a little better hearing I wasn’t the only one who got it 99%

I think the advice is fine if applied to one context at a time. You can paint one room in your house and replace the carpet in another "simultaneously" without too much risk, but doing both at once in the same room is asking f
