People who don't like planned obsolescence when it comes to computing don't understand Moore's law. On the other hand, there is planned obsolescence in stuff like tennis shoes that makes less sense to me. I have to buy new tennis shoes ev

Neat feature -- but I agree with one commenter on the site of the article -- why not just get together with you friends and listen to music at the same time? There's lots of live music out there, and most performances are under-attended :(

Funny article, but isn't creating one job a pretty good thing to do, anyway?

Good point -- it is hard not to want to punch the person in the face when they say something that seems so wrong, but letting them roll can be a good thing. Depending on how often they get a chance to talk to someone who has started a busi

Very interesting article; although here's what I think gets missed when folks teach and talk about Philosophy since Russell: anything that smells even vaguely religious just doesn't count -- don't read it -- too spooky, too irrational. The

"I'm about to become a teacher. How can I be a good one?" Also, be ready to put up with bullshit from parents, admins and other teachers who insist on the path of least resistance.

I guess so. Overhead is much lower for the SOs though, so I can see why they are in such good standing. eBay, on the other hand...?

Really sad article -- I'd love to see Yahoo turn it around. It's an amazing company, in many ways.

I'm not sure that this is true. Yahoo's earnings are around 1.2 B, and Market Cap is around 20 Billion, whereas Apple's Earnings are around 20 Billion, and their market cap is around 400 Billion. Very similar, unless my numbers are outdat

Just saw this now. Poor people, I think have more children, with or without welfare -- it's not because of welfare that they do -- how much welfare in Africa?

Great article. I disagree with the notion that 'launch is for amateurs'. Launch may be at times for amateurs, but it's really great for the big names, as well -- seems like Apple does pretty well with its launches... I think that the real

I think that the "bad thing" about "Johnny" is that he's all sizzle, no steak. When the focus on the product is lost, there's only so much even the greatest ad guru can really do (with enough talent, money, and determination to succeed I t

My original comment: "Wow. Thank you for the insight, as someone who is working on getting funding for my business." I don't see any conflict, even if it's 20 years before I need to worry about these issues, I'm just thanking the OP, and au

This just seems more reasonable to me than an $80 Billion Facebook price tag. I'm not actually a big Twitter fan, but it's already an advertising device, so to me it makes sense to have some paid ads as well -- and I like ads that are simi

I've got to imagine that they can parlay their sponsored Tweet concept into a mult-billion dollar a year revenue stream. If not, forget it, but I actually like the concept of sponsored Tweets (from an advertiser's perspective, I like that

Well, you'd need 400 Million on profit for a fair $8 Billion valuation (at 20-1 P/E). I don't know what Twitter's current ad revenue is, but I think that having sponsored tweets is a good idea, as long as I don't get emails from Twitter

People are comparing this to The Drudge Report, but your layout is much cleaner, and your headlines less hyperbolic, and you don't seem ideologically motivated. Otherwise, this is like The Drudge Report for Tech news ! Good job. - I don

Before everyone starts hyperventilating, they aren't going to send you emails of promoted tweets from accounts you don't follow. This sounds like Reddit's promoted links -- hopefully, like Reddit, they'll open it up to more users and it wo

I'm not sure that the article does such a good job of talking about the value of in-person contact, which often gets lost in discussions about the power of 'social media'. In business, as in politics people still like the guy, or gal who i
