The thing is, I'm not a web developer and I don't think I should be forced to use the Developer Edition just so I can remain in charge of what I install in my browser. Now that I'm writing this it occurs to me that after this

I doubt an extension could do that since the signing mechanism needs to be secure, otherwise it would be pointless.

That's not strictly true on Linux: you could use AppArmor/SELinux to remove capabilities from programs. Surely not as user friendly as they could be but the capability is there.

I saw you tried different versions on 2 different machines -- it certainly suggests something related to your setup: I can zoom, open in new tab, save as, etc on Firefox 41 on Ubuntu 14.04. Do you have running app for mouse gestures? That&#

Google does not review addons. There have been occasions where extensions hosted on the chrome store were sending the URLs of all visited websites to their servers or 3rd party servers. I, as a user, much prefer the Mozilla model. Obviously

I'm wondering if the entertainment industry is the reason for which Hyper-CDROM[0] is not commercially available. If so, something is very wrong with the way society incentivises development and commercialization of new technologies. [
