Almost exactly the same thing happened to me - marginal RAM in an old style macbook pro. Drove me absolutely crazy. People always talk about cosmic rays as what ECC is guarding against - not at all! It's shitty RAM, especially in lapto

I definitely think a general guideline for language designers could be "when in doubt, make it look like Ruby". The language has its issues, sure, but damn if it didn't get syntax just right .

For RoR many of the app-level points are - CSRF, SQL escaping, bcrypt by default, etc. That's a big reason to use such a framework in the first place.

My apologies - my brain focussed on "stored procedures" and that's what my rant was addressing. Prepared statements are great and I'd use them whereever possible - totally agreed.

While it means well, I think some of this advice is pretty bad, or at least unbalanced. From the very first section: > Encrypt all data at rest in the database ALL data? How are you supposed to query against it then? What does "at r

The condo in that case is going to be far superior in every imaginable way. A $400k BTO is going to be very basic. The rule of thumb is 20-30% discount on fair market value. Not 80%! Yes, it's a pretty sweet scheme if you're eligi
