All good points, but chiming in that I'm actually going the opposite direction on VSCode. I've used VS Professional for 70% of my dev up until recently, but more and more and finding I can do the same things "lighter" w

Why stop with one? Wouldn't a network of 3-4 spread across the dark side of the moon and networked together be even better?

So then you’re writing your own one-off DI of sorts. And you have more code to write than if you’d just used DI.

Depending on how it’s implemented I could see this being a very good thing. My public sector clients esp. have a hard time buying any Saas as each one involves finding vendors, getting it approved, setting up payment, etc etc etc. obv the

Actually, as written, myService never gets set, but I think I know what you mean. This is not thread-safe and assumes you want singleton. To use it you would in each controller do: var service = Startup.getMyService(); And potentially know

I really am trying to understand this better. Can you give me an example with some concrete type names where it's massive waste and in the way? When I think DI, I think: //Startup.cs has all the config "goo" I don&

This was going to be my question. For your own classes and services, nothing is stopping you. You can new up classes without DI all day long. ASP.NET does layer on it's things using DI, but it's boilerplate built into templates

I’m a Dev doing mostly C# and JS. I’ve heard some of the complaints on HN mentioning DI and really don’t get it. I honestly feel like it makes my code cleaner and more testable. For example, I don’t have to care where my IFooService come

A great quote I've carried with me a while. Still, I'd have to think even Solzhenitsyn would recommend we not let the Gulags rise again if we can help it. His description of the laws and culture that led to the Gulags are eye op

I’m still on the fence. He claims no code has a niche “concretizing workflows”. The problem is vendor lock-in, as well as the myth of the non coding business analyst. I’ve seen enterprises sink millions into BPM software to crank out a f

I understand, but the corollary of time appearing to speed up close to gravity well (article explains this is not a field per se) is that it would appear to slow down further away. Is there a minimum speed of time relative to earth?

I'm admittedly skeptical of MMT, but turning that argument around, IF it were true that the US can never run out of money, then why worry at all about the cost of things? Why not just print 100% of the money to provide 100% of the thi

I do not think that is correct. Both Google and Apple _do_ allow PWAs. You can use many of the offline APIs, etc. and publish a web app that can be "bookmarked" to the home screen, have icons like native apps, work offline, etc.
