In agreement with the last part of the article, achievements count more than the number of hours spent in the office. That leads to thinking about what is worth achieving, instead of how to pass time until the workday is over. I wholly disa

Except I don't want any XR device sold by Facebook/Meta, but yeah hopefully all XR devices will see some benefit. Although big corporations are not exactly known for their altruistic nature, see https://news.ycombinator

Only just hearing about LTT Labs now, but it sounds like a great idea. And i see no problem with LTT and their approach to hardware, it is entertaining but make no mistake, that they know what they are talking about. But let's see what

Electric scooters have been heavily regulated where i live, helmet is now required and you have to leave them at designated locations. And a photo upload showing how it was parked is now also required. Oh, and Friday and Saturday between 00

Dang is a key factor in the success of HN, no doubt about it. Another part is the consistent website design, it helps in focusing on the essentials, i.e. the articles and the discussions. And last but not least i try to be the best I can wh

I suppose it's not just dev time on the line, but also the risk of doing the change that is thought to be too high. If I ever get to be a manager I'd go for an idea such as yours. Though I suspect too many managers are too far rem

Still, it's better to be a resource than the next level, which is a cost. I actively try to use people instead of resources in a conversation, have never understood the need to use resources as a word. Could be it's just a relic f

In the financial sector people over process is just not realistic, too much regulation makes sure that will never happen. Independent decision-making is also hard to do, as soon as something requires a budget, you can forget about the indep

This is newsworthy, but among some of the news that shouldn't really be on Hacker News. It's quite clear that Spotify is trying hard to improve public relations as that directly affects their bottom line. And what better way to do

Are there any data you can point to about Omicron killing 50x more people than the flu, that sounds rather high. Perhaps it's due to not being able to tell if Corona is the primary reason for the death. But without more data it's

Maybe not a different reason but a combination of factors. The vaccination share has been almost constant since August 2021. As recommended almost everyone got booster shots the last two months, but that is as much a precaution. I think the

That is so typical behavior from Google, change the rules as you go along. There is no way an unlisted video should be treated as a private video. And it won't be the last time Google changes opt-out, that's for sure.

Actually, I'd rather see some progress in housing. As in being able to go into a building, with a different unique experience each time. But perhaps GTA is a bad fit for this kind of innovation.

Very true, but if you can delay the inevitable long enough to get a substantial part of the population vaccinated, then there is value in that. However, that strategy fails when you don't have access to the vaccine.
