In agreement with the last part of the article, achievements count more than the number of hours spent in the office.
That leads to thinking about what is worth achieving, instead of how to pass time until the workday is over.
I wholly disagree that Remote Work will be upgraded to Work. The difference between Remote Work and working from the office is like the difference between 2D and 3D.
When coworkers are displayed on a screen, there just isn't a solid human connection.
But i can acknowledge the desire to maximize the value of the paycheck, by choosing cheap housing.

Especially when this type of work even in office is often done by connecting to servers that far away from the actual workstation anyway :) But on more serious note, I have been a freelance translator for many years and while it had certain benefits, it also involves many cons. You already mentioned lack of human contact which is not only mentally harder but can also be an impediment advancing one's career. Another is that home environment are not always the best for work focus. In fact, a lot of my freelance time was spent working outside, in cafes, parks, libraries etc. Everything has trade-offs. The article should have at least mentioned some of them.
