These cheap shots or trench war between both sides does nobody any good, it divides people instead of unite them. For me the major issue with the vaccine is the extremely fast track from inventing it to getting it out the door. An FDA appro

You are of course right that the driver needs to be alert while driving. But that is not going to do you any good, if you get hit while walking or biking. As an example there are sadly too many accidents involving a truck making a right-tur

I agree it's a tall order to compete with ASML, patents notwithstanding. So yes patents are not everything, even though cross-licensing is beneficial, rather than invent it yourself. Actually the James Webb telescope, which has a sched

That makes a lot of sense, on a highway with three lanes, I'm always making sure to not merge to the middle lane, if there is a car on the opposite lane, to name another situation. The hard question which really has nothing to do with

Seems like quite a risk to only have one company provide these machines. Semiconductor companies seem to follow the same trend, the major contributing factor seems to be the patent portfolio needed to secure cross-licensing deals. It looks

So much advertising opportunity lost :) But a very no-nonsense site that doesn't get in your way, I'm a fan.

With $450,000 as yearly pay i should give up being a software developer. Alameda even has a violent crime rate of half the US average. https://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Alameda-California.htm... I do wonder if the

As for results in the cleanup of Chernobyl, they did not fare that well. About 10% of the roof was cleared before radioactivity made it impossible to continue. Though that effort probably saved lives, so mission accomplished I'd say.

Be that as it may, there has not been presented any proof that Congress would dictate client-side scanning on users devices. But it still doesn't change that Apple needs to stop on-device scanning.

For starters Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Andy Samberg, Kevin Hart and Jackie Chan to name a few. I consider them all to be funnier than Will Ferrell, but personal taste is highly subjective.

In total agreement here, Uncut Gems ranks as one of the few movies i have been unable to watch until the end. Anchorman is another "not that great movie", but i suppose it's due to not thinking Will Ferrell is funny or intere

At this point it will be the OS without on-device scanning that wins for me. It's amazing that Apple is still thinking about moving this idea forward, but they must think they are untouchable and can do what they want. And it adds insu

I agree that this is more damage control on Apples side, no amount of spin will make on-device scanning a good idea. Apple should realize that users just want the privacy they have heard so much about over the years.

Frankly i don't expect much greatness from Biden. Back in March he responded to Texas lifting the mask mandate, by saying it was Neanderthal thinking. And the rest is history. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-cana

I guess it is a rhetorical question, but this is what will happen next if Apple doesn't halt this scanning initiative. Too big to listen seems to be what Apple thinks of this matter.

It's a sad state of affairs indeed. The lesson here is that you cannot help a Middle-east Muslim country to democracy, it is an impossible task. Even Turkey seems to be heading in the wrong direction these years.

This is in essence the problem with the new on-device initiative from Apple (calling it a tool is rather misleading). If allowed to go forward, it is only a matter of time before the capability is expanded. So it's a big no to the scan

The Middle East cannot be fixed by using force. Only if you have a clear target such as taking out Saddam Hussein, it can work if you get out immediately afterwards. I hope lessons are learned.

Message to Apple should they care: The next Apple iPhone upgrade is on hold, until all plans about CSAM scanning on-device is cancelled. Privacy matters.

Yes, it should be obvious by now why Apple must back down. But to convince Apple there needs to be plenty more articles about CSAM and where it leads.
