As a non-US HN'er, I totally agree with this. I come here for tech news, not US politics. Some HNer has set up a nice filter: http://diff.biz/?remove=%28nsa|prism|privacy|crunch|snowden|... It filters away all stories

Somebody needs to tell Amazon about this site: http://webrupee.com/ This pulls in a web font (woff) to display ₹. If Javascript is disabled it shows up as "Rs" instead. A fair compromise instead of images everywhere.

I recommend you read the unofficial FAQ [1] and the official guidelines [2]. In short, you can't downvote a story but you can "flag" it, which penalizes by pushing it down the page. You can downvote comments if you have atleast 500 karma. [
