Mentally I've compared this experience to the Blitz, which my grandparents lived through. Heightened fear of death or injury striking without warning; massive changes to daily routines; no timeline for how long it would endure but the

The point is, even if there weren't lockdowns , the psychological toll of the virus would be huge. Plenty of people would self-isolate anyway out of justified fear of the virus. In fact, being surrounded by people who recklessly disre

Impressive effort by the reporters: "The AirBeam reports data through a phone app, but we wanted a fallback, so we connected the AirBeam to a tiny Raspberry Pi computer. We modified open-source software to control the AirBeam and downl

When I Google "who won the election?" it clearly shows Biden won. Is this equally objectionable behavior by Google?

Your argument that the president's 34 indicted colleagues were actually guilty of X not Y is adorable.

Elect a cheater, and then claim the next election has the "most cheating in history." Amazingly, that's an accurate statement, because of the cheater. I am willing to be "exposed to the idea" as you say. I have to a

There's a fallacy in here somewhere. Let's say you pick a common sequence, and you win but have to share the winnings with several people. You say "Darn, I should have picked different numbers!" But then you would have w

Has Tulsa agreed to look for the mass graves of its citizens killed in the race massacre yet? Seems like that might deter the level of "diversity" the city is looking for.

I was hoping someone would make this comment. White flight to a red state is nothing new. My neighbors in the bay area represent dozens of cultures and no one's going to pay me to give that up.

I agree Trump is much more of a "proof of concept" of how an actual fascist could operate. Instead, as you say, he is blisteringly incompetent and lazy. Remember he accidentally became president when all he wanted was to build a h

Trump's weakening of the US's global influence and dissolving its alliance with the EU has been the greatest gift to China in a generation. All China wants is to be an unchallenged world power.

Oklahoma City is a huge sprawling area on an essentially infinite two-dimensional plane. Population density of Helsinki is 8x that of OKC, plus it has natural features, so it's really going to have a different feel.

The US is willing to run at a $3T deficit so the concept of needing tax money or fiscal viability to build things is tenuous at best. Did taxpayers get slammed when we built the transcontinental RR?

A couple years ago all you heard about was kids who didn't want to get shot in school. Now it's communities of color who don't want to get shot by police. It sure is a lot nicer to keep my head in the sand.
