Everybody else counts suicides. Also, not knowing your state I am willing bet there are confounding factors. The vast majority of firearm homicides are in urban areas. I am not going to be able to get the exact same figure as you since the

If you are attempting to say that stricter guns laws lead to more firearm deaths, you would be quite wrong. California has one of the lowest rates per capita in the US. This law needs some improvements for sure, but here are the CDC stats f

Made me chuckle. I know a guy who finds Netflix a total PITA and the streaming experience (sorely) lacking. So he pays for Netflix streaming and dvds, and then downloads what he wants to watch via torrents for the convenience.

My edit was to indicate that the air burst might have been a distant inspiration for the Jericho story as well as the Sodom story. There are about 600-1000 years between event and writing by most estimates, so there was plenty of time for i

That area is full of salt pillars. The geology served as an opportunity to create a moral and religious story. Could this have also influenced the story? Perhaps, but the salt pillars are quite large, obvious, and unique. Edit: I note that

I don't know what the "correct" answer is (and highly doubt there is a one size fits all answer). But there are thousands of developers not using them as well, so this argument is not valid.

Around here it's free and the pharmacy gives you a $5 coupon for getting it. They definitely see it as an easy way to get people through their doors.

We want to be able to get natural light and air into the house. I can make a safe room if I need to, but this is an always-on threat and we can't respond with whole house unhealthy environments. Grounded metal (copper or aluminum) scre

I used to think that obviously coastal real estate would plummet in value after a few high profile losses. After this pandemic I no longer think it will happen except very, very slowly. But the beaches will be gone for perhaps centuries, th

This is such a terrible argument. 1. You very well might never know you have. People with extreme views don't advertise them everywhere and at all times. 2. There is plenty of video evidence of literal crowds of such people in various

Children under 12 are a major group that drop vaccination percentages down significantly everywhere. The hope is that once this age group can also be vaccinated, we can find the new normal and let people individually hedge their own bets.

They can reduce that risk by having very long tubes that can be re-positioned from the surface using ships to take water from different locations while the currents replenish the other locations. Or just have several tubes to draw from. Lik

Getting the disease is being infected. It is important that people not get it in the first place, so they can't transmit it to others.

Preventing infection is very important in reducing spread of the disease to others. Vaccines in the end work best when we reach herd immunity, and that occurs by preventing most infection, and thus the possibility of mutation.
