For the average cloud platform it is totally insufficient to protect you from a bad actor or stupid programmer at the provider. Imagine if IAM had a major vulnerability suddenly...

Totally agree. But where does that leave us with “The Cloud”?

Yep. It’s ok when SCL, AggregateIQ, Cambridge Analytica, Data Propria etc do it of course!

I have removed my comment as that particular Meanwell unit DOES have OVP included. No issue necessary! I shall crawl back into my power supply paranoia hole now :)

Nothing London specific I suspect. Just that a lot of people in London aren't as friendly as people make them out to be.

How can they say there has been a reduction when the people on 101 tell you to sod off and speak to your insurance company? This has happened to two people I know in 2018.

That's exactly the problem. You pass an invisible line somewhere that TfL stops existing and you're getting mugged straight up in redneck country. Lakeside is indeed crap.

The price caps are but it's a bit of a pain if you forget to touch out somewhere or have to use national rail etc. Plus sometimes it does actually go wrong. I have to request about 2-3 refunds a year where I've done the same route

Yes this is getting bad. It happened to my father a few years ago as well when he was sitting on the side of the road answering a phone call with the window open in Chiswick. Fortunately he grabbed the guy and shut the window on his arm. H

I've worked for a number of really shitty London startups over the years. Just a note that YMMV when it comes to good thing. No I'm not willing to name and shame but most of them are totally dead now :)

Despite using contactless via Apple Pay, I don't actually have a contactless debit card. HSBC never issue me them even though I asked! I'm not sure contactless is as ubiquitous as we think it is.

It's mainly regular Londoners who use contactless I think. We're an extremely advanced city when it comes to public transport payments. But at the same time you need to be able to digest the numerous rules around it like daily and

I occasionally have to take my daughter to Great Ormond Street hospital. We park in the car park underneath the Brunswick Centre. It's nice to sit out on the shopping area and get something to eat afterwards these days. There's al

Ugh that's awful price disparity as well. It's pretty expensive here in the UK. You should always pay me for what I can do not where I live.

Interesting. Mine was a Motorola handset. I gave up with Android in the end due to stuff like this. I don't want to have to fight the tech I use to keep it doing what I want it to do.

Nice to see AS/400 turning up on here. When I started my first proper "IT" job, back in the late 90s for a big multinational, they were running their payroll system off it. The main node was about a decade old at the time. Th

systemd has wasted a ton of time for me as well. Then again I just bought a new MacBook air and they keyboard gave out after two weeks and it gave me a rash. Can't win at all.

Yes but it’s one they deal with quite happily. Because the bandwidth of the receiver is tiny.

Drones are likely flying around in pretty well defined frequencies. And the noise isn’t a problem because the receivers are receiving.

I’m building a slightly crappier and less ambitious 0-200MHz one at the moment for HF use. Basically a step attenuator, LPF, a pair of NE602 for first and second LO+mix, an old Toko helical filter for first IF and hand built crystal filter

It's not worth programming at factory IMHO unless you have extremely high volume. On a small scale, firmware is the most likely thing you're going to cock up. Between the parts being programmed and arriving, you're one FW rev
