Thanks for asking this. I was only recently made aware of this argument technique and it’s a great antidote to division. i.e. No matter your opinions, make your best case for why this is a good idea. See also: strawman

One odd thing I haven’t seen mentioned is that in a quiet enough room you can hear the blood flowing through your body. Is this phenomenon considered tinnitus? For me, earplugs allow me to hear this sound better (similar to being under wate

This reminds me of the web comic from Toothpaste for Dinner: “dopamine and serotonin, technically the only two things you enjoy.” Maybe when your motivation for work dries up you have learned to replace the good feeling chemicals by binging

I’m 40 years old and generally hate subscriptions for desktop software. Local tools that work offline should be “ownable” in the licensed sense. When I built my indie app “Label LIVE” it was designed to work offline and be paid for ONCE. Af

I love the idea of a tool digesting my own writing. Ticket systems like Zendesk should offer this built-in as boilerplate. Instead, I use native iOS/macOS “text replacement” for customer service responses. It saves me so much time. I h

I’m not going to say I’m an expert, but I’ve cataloged every electron error and show-stopper for an app I’ve built and deployed on windows/macOS for 5 years. Feel free to get in touch with me if you’d like help, or maybe just a slack c

I’m a solo consultant and have had many good client relationships based on agreeing on deliverables. To summarize according to the old “pick two” adage of delivered-fast, works-to-spec and cheap: I’m fast, reliable, and expensive. I deliver

Someone should make a list of analogies of: if X were an iPad you couldn’t do Y. Perhaps after a few hundred of these we could identify a higher level pattern that would “make sense” instead of being frustrating. I feel like there’s some de

As an aside, Quinn “The Eskimo!” is a legend. They have helped me on a few occasions with code signing electron apps. In the American south there is a saying “doing the lords work.” Thank goodness we have people like Quinn. Their understand

I’m 40. I do 3 sets of 8 deadlifts about 5-10% over my body weight. This routine wears me out but each single rep feels easy. I can do this routine every day. You could say I’m maintaining, but I’m still reaping benefits years later. I cons

Am I the only one with a twang of dread and anxiety... being transported back to a summer weekday in the 1990s. I was maybe 8 years old, learning how to use a screwdriver to take things apart. I opened my C64, wiggled one of these ICs out,

I turn on the 3-finger-drag accessibility option on my Mac trackpads. It works amazingly well. You can drag, cmd-tab, and even add an additional click to focus a part of an app without losing the drag. I’m amazed every time.
