Balena (formerly resin) publishes a list of supported devices for their OS. It’s been a good list to work from. https://www.balena.io/docs/reference/hardware/devices/

I wrote an electron app a few years ago and it’s grown into a real business by surpassing my consulting income. I had to solve a few dozen really tough technical issues surrounding supporting USB on both mac and windows, fonts, etc. Feel fr

I’m so upset at this. Not anything about Freshworks. But just how disappointed I am in Zendesk. 1) when I started my own niche electron app I paid for Zendesk and the SOBs put a limit of like 2MB on attachments. So users would email large s

A few months ago my tiny side project blossomed into a 6-figure income stream. It’s an electron app that designs and prints labels. Users import spreadsheet data and generate barcodes. Since I have a customer base and a target market, I’ve

I’m entering grey beard territory, been on HN for years, and I still don’t know what the [-] button does. Is it a downvote? Or does it just collapse the parent so I can read more without clutter? You’d hope downvote UI would be more explici

I’ve read this sentence 10x and laugh every time. “…up to five trains that can move about a kilometer of half a mile through a loop of tunnel.” Reads like the author is about 20 deciliters into their gallon of wine.

I built an app to design and print labels on thermal, inkjet and laser printers. It’s built with electron and it uses a handful of native modules to communicate with windows/mac usb devices. That way, a user can literally download my a

I love articles like this. I largely transitioned from obj-c/Swift/Kotlin mobile app dev to “modern”JS via Babel/Flow/webpack and now TS. I love it. I love the control of building my own language.

I’m an indie solo dev selling label printer software. The niche force is strong with me... my business is basically selling the software equivalent of colonoscopies. I can only speak for my own experience, but Capterra offered me and my cus

I am 8 years an addict to HIIT via Les Mills Bodypump. High rep low weight. Some of my best thinking is when I “time travel” through an uncomfortable 5-min track by thinking about one particular tech/bug/architecture decision. Bei

I credit my success as a mobile app dev consultant to Stanford’s iOS videos back when iTunes U was a thing (2012). I will have to watch these because damn if I don’t have a ton of questions about SwiftUI architecture best practices. Pro-tip
