Frankly, the new 1Password mini app is a strong step in the wrong direction since 6. It's huge, it tries to do too much. I've never been happy with it. I switched to Bitwarden and generally it serves the purposes better. A few thi

Really hoping Apple makes this feature available in macOS so that password managers can hook into it in an official way. Every year I keep crossing my fingers but it never happens.

Eh.. I'm going to go a different route. Compromising everything is easier, it means you have to change the password for everything and know it was compromised. If only SOME stuff is compromised then you don't know what was comprom

You're losing out on certain types of phishing protections by doing this. You're also potentially opening yourself up to any apps/tools that are keeping an eye on your clipboard if you're copying and pasting. Auto-type m

Bitwarden supports multiple accounts. If you have two logins for the same service with the same URLs they'll appear in the browser extension with the username shown by the title. If you're instead talking about using the same logi

Did you read the linked article? Sounds like some people are having some issues with stability of Roam. It's one of the things first talked about in the article.

Lucky you. Wells Fargo are terrible. Seriously, do some research. I'd never use those fools.

I think that in general you CAN learn and skip those holes if you have someone to guide you that already knows the subject well. But as a person who may be really new to the subject of development and computer science I think it's obvi

I think the first problem is you are talking about Wells Fargo. One of the worst banking options imaginable in the US. While limits might not be much different from other banks, at the very least it's not Wells Fucking Fargo.

Do we actually know that Microsoft hasn't been trying to resolve this for longer? I haven't seen any real indication that they haven't been.

The risk to young children is low. But not having symptoms or being low death rate doesn't mean shit. Kids require adults to take care of them. That means those kids who may have the infection could VERY easily spread it to higher risk

Ah yes, the whole "Most people won't show symptoms so that's okay" ploy. Next you'll be saying "kids are basically immune"

I have a couple of smart lights/smart outlets that do this. I mostly needed it because for whatever weird ass reason my living room doesn't have lights despite being built in 1994. The lamp I use is fine, but the wall switch for t

Not sure what your insurance is like, but mine is $1050/yr. An alarm system would save me $50, barely two months of service for something cheaper, barely one month on a more expensive plan. I would NOT look at it as lowering insurance.

Not a clue as I don't use them. I think there are cheaper systems out there that provide fire/emergency options. Simplisafe for instance, haven't looked in awhile so I could be wrong, provides fire alerts and things like that

No, I think what I was saying was more a reminder more than anything. Understanding limits is useful in a conversation like this. I don't think someone is more likely to get caught, do you have any sort of documentation to indicate tha

Yea, all the sign does, for someone motivated enough, is tell them how much time they have. "Okay, they have a security system. Break in, grab the tv, grab the other stuff that's visible and worth something, then run" At the

These types of home security systems are more a deterrent than they are anything else. In fact, the ONLY reason I think I'd personally invest in would be automated alerts for fire or emergency situations. If someone wants into your hou

Most average users are the reason for this. HN is not average, lets just get that out of the way right now. But it's not uncommon at all for someone to hear "I need to setup 2FA" so they go do so and then not understand how i

I really like to use CodeRunner for these types of purposes, I just save off the snippets of code into a folder so I can easily locate those ideas/thoughts/snippets later. https://coderunnerapp.com

How do you have the Bitwarden server setup? I'd love to run it locally at home on a NUC or something similar, but Bitwarden has this shitty "feature" where you can't actually save anything new unless you have a connectio

When using a password manager of sufficient security the weakness isn't the password manager. The password manager is likely the strongest security app that most people use on the daily. If you store both the password and 2FA in someth
