My Pixel 5 has been perfect. No bugs, glitches, hardware issues, etc. The only complaint I have is them removing the proper burst mode on the camera, but that was gone with the 4 series I think.

GripIt anchors are very good as well, they didn't review those. They are a bit tricky to install if the drywall is thicker or you end up near a stud. Bit they feel sturdy once installed. I've used them for dressers, free standing

Or Fail2Ban. I have mine setup so that it does an API call to my OPNSense firewall. A few wrong logins to my self hosted things (SSH included) and that IP is permanently blocked from everything.

If your CPAP is like mine it has a 2G modem. Mine stopped working when those networks were shut down, so it's SD card only now. Forces the solution nicely.

So don't install those things? At some point it isn't the phones problem to limit a user from those things. I don't have Facebook, Twitter, etc on my phone.

A while back it took myself, a data center engineer, and two engineers from the appliance vendor a solid 20 minutes to figure out the problems with a ~12 line yaml file that needed two or three lines added (network config file). Between syn

Climate change tends to mean more extremes, hot and cold (and windy). Southwest Canada is normally known for mild summers but it peaked over 110F last week. It was 95+F in my office. So maybe plan accordingly just in case....

You don't need a static IP though. You just need dynamic DNS and to use the name. And depending on the ISP you might be "static" until a long enough power outage anyway.

FreeNAS is excellent in many ways. Except that weird gospel their forum people have. ZFS only needs a lot of RAM if deduplication is enabled. And it shouldn't be for most use cases, or only enabled on one dataset that benefits from it.

Proper security, phones on a different VLAN. No Bluetooth nonsense with notification sounds. Better sorting via software like Plex or something else, then casting that stream to something else. Casting doesn't mean transcoding either.

Glacier pricing can be hard to grok... With Glacier as it is usually used you dont read data directly from the Glacier storage, it has to be restored to S3 where you then access it. That is the restore charges and the delays, so you can pay
