The endless summer is finally turning into fall for the tech industry. I have heard several anecdotes of people who just coast and earn absurd salaries, specifically at Facebook and Google. If it can happen there then it's probably a w

I was trying to write in a specific way for the HN audience. But yes - it remains a very important moral text for many people, including on HN.

It’s a super old book that guided a large portion of humanity through pre-enlightenment time. The historical references are pretty factual based on other sources and archaeological finds. The Bible is an interesting artifact.

I don’t think any amount of evidence will convince the never-freedom mask-forever types. The mass deaths and horrors beyond comprehension prophesied for those who dared walk maskless simply never happened.

It appears that places without lockdowns (Florida, Sweden) did as good or far better than places with severe lockdowns (California, New York). So I still don’t see the evidence despite all the spittle from supposed scientists who know such

I would rather let those with the most potential have the best possible opportunities than lower everyone’s standards for special ed students. We can make vocational schools for those that can’t succeed academically, but for those that can

The USA is a country of states. Europe is a continent of sort-of linked countries. I don’t want to pay for them anymore given how much they pretend armed defense is unnecessary. Good luck to them but I don’t think we should be paying for th

You can only have shitty, dilapidated, extraordinarily expensive public schools for so long before the gravy train ends and parents rebel. In Boston we pay some of the highest per-pupil spending in the entire country (~$25k) and they are co

Europe has a patchwork of abortion laws and generally are far more restrictive than the US, which in many places you can abort very late term. While I support a woman’s right to abort up to a point, the issue is now devolving to the states
