Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a watermark.

My Samsung Chromebook 3 is a pretty poor performer, but I love the matte screen and battery life. I use Termux all day long with Typescript background-compiling. I wouldn't run Xcode on a non-SSD MBP, though.

If you've ever been to a resort with a wet bar, you might see people drinking for several hours without getting out of the pool. One can draw conclusions.

Copperheads are bad, especially since many other species look like them. They can put you in the hospital. Avoid the triangle head.

Great way to spread the word about your game. IIRC Minecraft went viral when people started posting videos of their houses catching on fire...

Not if you wanted your site to work on MSIE -- I don't think setTimeout() was even supported until IE4.

I wonder if this could be retargeted to retro CPUs like the 6502 and Z80? Seems the assumption of 32-bit integers might make things less efficient though. (EDIT: never mind, it does support smaller int types!)

Interesting -- I wonder how this would work for sharing on social networks, given that they often recompress images. You could also hide the data in a proprietary PNG metadata chunk, but this also might not survive recompression.

The 2600 didn't have a built-in RNG, but many games took advantage of uninitialized registers on powerup to seed their own RNG.

They weren't all in assembly. Lots of games were published in BASIC or Pascal or even custom interpreters like Z-Code. But most arcade games and cartridge titles were coded in assembly back then.

There's one at the Barcade in Jersey City, too. You can even reboot and switch it to the Empire Strikes Back ROM.

I use Verilator to run simulations in the browser, which is useful to people who want to learn Verilog without installing anything: http://8bitworkshop.com/blog/release/2018/12/15/verilog-prog...

That's still the case, but open-source tools are useful for simulation, and there are synthesis tools for the Lattice iCE40 family: http://www.clifford.at/icestorm/

I would guess that even on the most inexpensive FPGA (iCE40 for example) you could run a 6502 at at least 20 MHz, and fit some display logic on there as well.

The IceStorm tools are open source, based on the reverse-engineered Lattice iCE40 FPGA architecture: http://www.clifford.at/icestorm/ I found it very easy to get started, although first you have to buy a compatible FPG
