Not meaning to be snarky at all, but have you tried reading about mindfulness first? I found that in my 20s running was awful and I was almost literally counting the steps until I got to the end. But as I've gotten older and embraced a

I think the biggest problem with polemic blogrants like this are that the author has encountered their own personal bankruptcy with ORMs and proceeds to indict the entire enterprise of mapping an object-oriented language environment to a re

If we're being honest here, I don't think most world leaders are quite as blindly caught up in our significance as the majority of humanity. If anything, world leaders play the game and understand that it's all a house of car

Healthy skepticism is important in ALL facets of life. You would join the union because the organization of labor gives you more power than individually. This is all pretty basic democratic theory here. Why would an independent state join a

You seem to critically misunderstand democratic governance. In a union, as a member, you have a vote. In a corporation, as an employee, have no vote. That is not to say there hauven't been corrupt unions. But generally speaking, as the

In fairness, I've been to rather expensive conferences that had talks that didn't start on time, seemed to have whole tracks that were only loosely related to overarching conference topic, and had many presenters who either starte

The greatest equalized economic growth. Go ahead and ask miserly monarchs how it works to grow the wealth of the few at the expense of the many. The U.S. could not long have tolerated robber barons without major social trials.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply :) At the end of the day, I suppose there's a certain inevitability to the sort of service you're providing, and I'd rather there were 20 smaller companies, than just CloudFlare. So carry on, a

I'm sure the tech is really neat, but after the last CloudFlare debacle, piping all your HTTP requests through a for profit company just seems like it's ripe for abuse. This is not meant to slander Fly, and I'm sure the devs

Basically, yes. Classical stoicism applied to modern life, with concessions made where needed to adapt to reality. Thankfully, ancient stoics were quite avant garde in many of their social norms, so it doesn't have be modified as much

Properly spec'd and implemented language structures are the opposite of logical puzzles. JS is not fluid, it's broken.

Take away the parens (which python is pretty explicit such structure should not be required to be legible). msg = if status == 0 "done" else "error" From a compiler perspective that's a bear to parse.

PostgresQL is an RDBMS and has increasingly been demonstrated as able to hold it's own against closed source rivals. I think the OPs tossing NOSQL in there was poor form, and I think "SQL engines" could be replaced with DBAs.
