Its a good choice for serious projects. Nobody serious would ever bother with complaining about the low-level nature of the MOAI runtime without understanding its design. Having done 5 projects in MOAI so far, I can tell you this: what y

I once ported BCPL to the GP2X. BCPL came with an EDSAC simulator, so I used it as the test app for the BCPL port .. so for a while, I had an EDSAC in my pocket. ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDSAC http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gp2x X

MOAI also (now) supports Linux. So, you have exactly one set of code to run on MacOSX, Windows, Linux, Android and iOS.

I'm using MOAI professionally, and none of your points are of any concern so far .. we've definitely been very productive with MOAI, and sure - the documentation needs work, but for a 1.0 release, MOAI packs an immensely powerful punch. If

Why don't you have any users? One thing you must always do in startup land is focus on the users of your company. IF you truly have none, well. No great loss if you bail. But if you could have more, just haven't actually focused on the us

The point is that compared to Ruby, Objective-C is just aging, bloated, and incomprehensibly loaded with special traps designed to keep you wedded to the platform. Ruby skills: applicable across a very broad range of computing devices. Obj

Its definitely a point. Unfortunately I moved to this country, and have gotten too involved in it to be able to move easily (house, wife, kids..) or else I'd definitely move to a country where programmers are paid more what they're worth

MOAI is very similar to Love2D in some ways (Box2D, etc.) but the general application programming model is different - you don't have callbacks to implement features in MOAI, you simply set up the state of various game objects and layers an

I've used both Unity and MOAI. Unity is too heavy for a cross-platform 2D game engine - whereas MOAI is absolutely light and tasty. No question, there is big power in the Unity tools. But if you want to build a 2D game with physics and ac

Maybe that would be different if Valve got behind the project. As it stands, the Pandora guys haven't done such a bad job for a grass-roots, community-led effort with no funding and all the problems of a hardware manufacturer, starting wit
