This is great! I write a lot of one-off utilities that run on my main desktop as web applications backed by sqlite so you're really speaking my language here! I enjoyed the little bit of exposure that I had to Tcl/Tk through EXPEC

I've been running Arch on my 8th (or maybe 7th?) Generation ThinkPad X1C since I bought it in 2018. I've had no issues with multiple monitors, hibernate, etc. I never got the fingerprint reader working but I don't care to use

Thankfully we have options. I'm planning on moving my main desktop to Arch over my Christmas break from work. It's been a while since I ran Linux as my main desktop, my only complaints have been around gaming performance. I have a

I don't have much to add. I went through a similar process about a year ago. It was painful and annoying and despite the fact that it was not what I wanted to do I ended up with an Electron app. I'd also add that they're (Mic

They do. I personally know at least a dozen extremely talented software engineers who have left Blizzard alone for FAANG in the last 3 years. Could bump that up to a solid 2 dozen if we included Riot, and go back 5-7 years. edit/ These

Same here. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of my 7th generation X1C. Perhaps more than any laptop I've previously owned. I've had no problems with it whatsoever. I've been running Ubuntu on it since the day it arrived.

Appreciate the reply. I guess it's all perception. If I was in my 20s, I'd have the time and desire to dig into it and figure it out. Alas, I'm in my 40s and between work and family I just don't have the time for those t

I should've added that I was on the advanced track and was a year ahead of most of my peers, though we had full class of > 20 students (in a graduating class of, I wanna say, ~100-ish) who were in this track. IIRC, it was a toss up

Came to mention TB, as well. I've been running it for years (I originally learned about it from a HN comment) and believe that I will probably use it, or some variation of the protocols, for the rest of my life. That said, if I were ne
