I don't have much to add. I went through a similar process about a year ago. It was painful and annoying and despite the fact that it was not what I wanted to do I ended up with an Electron app. I'd also add that they're (Microsoft) also pushing .NET MAUI and Blazor for GUIs. They're very confused over there, IMO.
