This occurred over the last 5-7 years but several events this year refocused it anew. My father was very tough. The details are not important. However, I think I finally recognized the places and modalities where that toughness is a benef

There's a lot here to bolster my thesis: - throws out a bunch of talking points (e.g. fluff) - throws out several "I heard/I read/...." - tortured rhetoric (2+2=4) - throws a out a bunch excessive in absolute and re

Great HN post. Thank you for OP for supplying the link. Through my various social engagements, I've spent time in many political discussions. Trump, politics, race, and anti-vaccination are recurring themes. Some observations: * Those

Apple had choice. They just didn't use it or much of it. You write like China has a lock on this ... like it's the perfect lobby. There's only one perfect lobby: and that's the NRA in Doonesbury cartoons.

While the material is I think easier to understand than some of the high flung math and physics the publication talks about in other articles, this is still an above average read.

I seriously disagree with this. I expect a whole hell of a lot more out of American management. Money is not the measurement of all things. Apple could have: - pointed out China is confusing its politics with business - thrown this out to a

Agreed: there must be consequences. And this human management problem is not specific to science nor cosmology. The total dollars sunk into research is small compared to revenues spent elsewhere. Heck, in the US Government, it is still not

I find this outlook deplorable and a significant contributing factor to why companies can't do better. Read: https://www.amazon.com/What-Total-Quality-Control-Japanese/d... and do better. You have choice. Use it.
