If you're interested, see https://hn.algolia.com/?dateEnd=1388534400&dateRange=custom&... Ironically, back in 2012 I remember people were expressing their distaste for the skeuomorphic design of iOS and macOS.

There are plenty of posts in this thread that are misrepresenting the technology, in a few cases deliberately. If you feel strongly enough to comment, you owe it to yourself and the discussion to go to the source and understand what it'

Steven Soderbergh an awful lot on an iPhone. He's made at least two movies with them. I'd argue that he is a 'pro'. https://www.indiewire.com/features/general/steven-soderbergh...

Sorry, but that is a weak argument. Individually, people have to take responsibility for their security. The tools exist and are simple to use.

Beware of spreading FUD. Password managers like 1Password sync the data locally. If they are offline, for whatever reason, you can still access the passwords locally. You can easily test this by disabling networking on your device and acces

Not wanting to use biometrics directly for over-the-web authentication is one thing. Not taking the time to understand the technology being employed by Passkeys is entirely another. That’s your fault.

Please think. The biometric data is on-device. This is, in very simplistic terms, public key cryptography where the private key is locked to a device. How that device is authenticated is immaterial to passkey authentication to another servi

You only use your passkey when logging in to your email account if you use a web-based client exclusivley.

How does that work if you can register multiple different keys using different devices from different vendors on an account? Edit: I took the last sentence out, it was childish on my part.

I swear the trackpad on my work-issued one takes 5 minutes to warm up before it is useable. It is quite possibly the worst laptop I've ever owned, and I've had a Vostro and a 2018 Macbook with the dodgy keyboards.

State-sanctioned murder is still murder, whichever way you cut it. It is an interesting intellectual thought experiment, but I'll leave it at that.

You're right, there is no undo button for unnecessary prison time. However, given the choice, I'm sure the innocent people that were essentially murdered by the state would have preferred the option or time and compensation. The d

Depends on what you mean by builtin. The one in settings? No. pf does, however, allow you to do this. Murus is what you need if you want/need a frontend for pf.

They absolutely did. The whole antitrust case revolved around Microsoft threatening OEMs to terminate their reseller agreements if they sold the machines with Netscape Navigator pre-installed. It is the literal definition of monopoly abuse!

It is fantastical, and this is by design. I've visited many places described in the Bible; I know it's somewhat grounded in fact. But much like other historical literature, it isn't a completely reliable historical document

If this post is misinformation, which you are asking for evidence of, why don't you refute it, as the article suggests? I disagree that the Bible is misinformation now; it's historical literature - a very long novel, much like o
