Wow, that’s low. Not only are you needlessly bringing race into this, your comment comes across as deeply condescending to the very people you are purporting to support.

Saw the same argument when they dropped parallel and serial ports on the original iMac. There are adapters that you can leave on the cable, or buy new cables. USB-C is the future and is here now.

I suspect the intent for the HDMI port is really for hooking up to projectors. If you want HDMI > 2.0 there is usb-c to HDMI.

I'd love to see less passive/aggressive responses, but this is the internet... Editing images and video comes to mind. Average users are doing that a lot more, since they have access to high resolution RAW output via mobile device

They kind of are by definition - System on a Chip. I'll rephrase; the benefits of having on-package RAM (unified would be even better!) outweigh the benefits of user-upgradable RAM. User upgradable/appendable storage is another th

The benefits provided by SoCs outweigh the benefits of user upgradeable RAM for me. > Swapping batteries due to charge issues was never particularly important to the majority of consumers and is a red herring. Why?

What is the use case? Modern batteries hold their charge for a long time. In a review I saw today, the reviewer - a professional photographer and filmmaker no less - said that he managed to shoot edit and export a video on a single charge[0

Subsequent versions of bash are GPLv3 “encumbered”. Apple as an organisation have decided that the best way to avoid potential licensing issues with GPLv3 is to avoid GPLv3, which appears to be part of the intent of GPLv3. Tell me, who is h

I don't know whether I over-use it, but the charger won't stay in of its own accord - same Lenovo brand charger works fine in the Mac. Pre lockdown, I commuted with both machines everyday. I've been disappointed with the buil

Tethering isn't done over HDMI. Invariably it's propietary, Micro USB-B or Micro-USB 3.1 to the camera and a plain old USB-A to the machine. Wireless tether is a thing to.

Depends on the manufacturer. Lenovo x280 vs 2018 MBP. The Lenovo USB-C port is awful after 3 years of use, the port is loose and devices, including the woefully cheap charger, fall out. MBP, similar age (slightly older), and the ports still

This is exactly the reason. Most 3D software has esoteric UIs, but Blender's workflow was extreme . Since its initial OSS release (2.4?) the UI has matured and changed significantly for the better. Its far more approachable now, and f

Ah. Didn't appreciate that. To be fair, it took Apple so long to implement this I've never learned to use the feature.

You can remotely brick it. The minute that the thief tries to do anything with the device, it's functionally useless. It needs to be online to be reactived, and if the device is marked stolen, it won't activate.

To answer the question, with a usb-c/micro usb cable? No, obviously not. With a Google/Samsung/Anker manufactured wall-wart? Yes! Android "chargers" aren't a thing that I'm aware of with USB-C, just with m

What is proprietary about Apples chargers? They sell USB-A and USB-C wall warts, and their devices happily charge on non-Apple chargers. Their laptop chargers are USB-C and have been for some time. I charge my MBP from a Lenovo power brick.
