Indeed. I have been making my TVs "smart" since around 2001 so that I could watch content from my computer on the TV. I've done it all from DivX CD players to a home theatre PC to network streaming boxes. Back in the 00s I ha

I think the needless insult at the very start of your comment is why it is being downvoted. You make valid points but your language makes people not want to listen to you.

This is the most Hacker News comment I’ve read in a while. Also would love to know how you are doing Dolby Vision playback for example as I’ve never found a reliable way to do Dolby Vision on Windows, macOS or Linux.

LG webOS is still one of the better experiences on smart TVs for sure. It is generally smooth with good app support and experience and like you said limited built in ads. While not perfect it is the system I like the most if I have to use a

Most people I know don’t have a PC or don’t have a PC they can easily connect to a TV as it is in another room and not easily moved. For those that do, such as those with a laptop, they don’t want the inconvenience of connecting it to the T

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion tbh. Every week I teach teenagers and adults that want to learn to code. Almost all because they want a career as a software developer. I don't see those learning to code as competition
