Actors aren't just about distributed state, they're about any state that could be accessed or modified concurrently. Distributed systems don't have to come into play for actors to be useful. Actors provide a sane way to dea

I don't know if it was intentional, but most of the intro literature around Scala seems to avoid terms like monad, just introducing the reader to Option, Future, etc., and letting the reader notice the common patterns (map, flatMap). E

I was referring to the fact that the total value of the Standard descendants far exceeded that of Standard prior to the breakup. Part of that is attributable to the growing American economy at the time but also the intense competition that

Gate checked bags aren't checked to your destination, you retrieve the bag plane-side upon landing. Besides, checking bags is rarely necessary. I spent five weeks in India on business with only a carry-on suitcase and a laptop bag.

Yes, you agree for both the fare rules of the specific ticket you bought and the airline's contract of carriage, both of which are approved by the Department of Transportation. And (at least) the CoC prohibits hidden-city ticketing.

The airlines will go after passengers who abuse hidden-city ticketing but will generally let it slide if you only do it once or twice. There are stories on FlyerTalk about repeat offenders being banned from certain airlines. It's proba
