Eh, it does learn from self play via RL. One section of the paper is literally titled "Self-play reinforcement learning for improved value estimation". Yes, that's only a small part of the entire system.

Diplomacy has a very simple world model and this work does not advance world modeling aspect at all. So I don't think this work is an evidence in either ways.

The paper does describe the bot's architecture which makes the bot incapable of lying in a certain technical sense. See what I wrote elsewhere.

As far as I can tell, as described in the paper, the bot in fact never lies, in this sense: there is a model that generates messages from moves, where messages should correspond to moves, and when the bot says any messages, at the time, the

I mean, I am not a curl developer so I don't get to vote, but restricting variable scopes to loops alone sounds worthwhile to me.

Yes, VLA is bad, but declare anywhere is very desirable. curl can't move due to old MSVC, but once that is solved, it would make a lot of sense to move to C99. The post itself says "It is not a no to C99 forever".

When exchanges registered in the Bahamas are in danger of losing customers money, Bahamian government has authority and duty to seize assets to protect customers. Bahamian government is taking custody, it's not their money.

Yes. I don't think pace is slow. I am actually surprised how fast it is going. Code review is a good practice, and I think Rust patches are being reviewed nearly as fast as possible.

I expect it to be possible in near future that you develop, say, a web server in Rust in userspace, and with a few changes run it in kernelspace, with improved performance.

I would normally agree with this, but Rust for Linux project in fact uses lots of unstable Rust features, and unstable Rust features in fact break a lot (as they should). Unstable Rust is in fact more painful than GCC C, so pain of upgrade

Merging a bug fix upstream relieves you of burden of maintaining it. It is good for both party, not just for upstream. I think signing corporate CLA, if required to merge, is quite reasonable in this case.

A large part of attraction of NetHack Learning Environment is availability of large human play dataset, including expert demonstrations. While I agree playing dungeon master sounds fun, that game lacks such data.
