Well, all the terminal emulator needs for this is the cursor position inside the window, which Wayland provides. Nothing X11 specific here. Ncurses and similar just ask the terminal emulator to provide mouse click Escape codes.

Have you tried using one of the ARM MacBooks? I used to be strongly of the same opinion as you are, but after getting an M1 MacBook pro from work, it's not so clear-cut anymore. The laptops are very, very good. I'm not a huge fan

Maybe take a look at pi-calculus and session types if you're not familiar, the notation you're describing sounds very similar/related to that

Sure. I figured out the relevant library was libwidevinecdm.so, normally located in /usr/lib/chromium/libwidevinecdm.so on Arch Linux with the chromium-widevine AUR package installed. I created a CrOS installation image

This is pretty cool. Much simpler than what I did to get 1080p working some time ago. I pulled out the widevine so directly from a CrOS image, replaced the one I had installed and spoofed my User-Agent.
