It's sad but predictable to see your comment downvoted for offering an interesting perspective. Especially considering most responses are sarcastic "yeah Facebook is small", ignoring your explanation. I'd have thought mo

The gap between speeding and high speed is only 10mph or so but very high speed is nearly double? I don't think that's a reasonable definition. Most people rarely or never go over about 110ish? That would be my definition of very

Quite obviously biased and overstated. Many subscription models have nothing to do with tricking people or making it hard to cancel and many customers of those continue to pay knowingly and willingly and appreciate the convenience of agreei

The cost and structure of US healthcare is rather a different problem, although potentially both have to be solved to make it work there. In Europe health insurance in many countries is 100-200/month with a few hundred in deductible.

Planet Money did an interesting episode on this, taking the opposite perspective: properties of other elements that made them less suitable. http://www.npr.org/sections/money/2011/02/07/131363098

I would expect them to get bored and find something interesting to do. Could be quite a positive. Regardless, most existing small studies and surveys show few people behave like this or intend to.

People are saying it being soldered down is a big disadvantage but I'm not following. The article says that M.2 spec will be available with PCIe or SATA interfaces and there is a photo of a Toshiba version on what looks like a small PC

I've seen this in almost every online community I've been part of. Online moderation seems to attract a certain kind of person: very picky but with some logical flaws, lack of common sense, relatively poor social skills. Eventuall

Microsoft is simultaneously more open than ever (dev-related) and acting just like the 90s (consumer-related). So strange, Windows 10 is pretty nice but they risk destroying reputation with spyware and deceit. I am assuming they are despera

I would think they care about diluting their brand. At some point these degrees you say are worthless will mean people stop paying - don't you think?

I found Zookeeper to be pretty easy to learn about and deploy. I also found it got a semi-bad reputation with others because they did not want to learn anything. Two major examples being: * attempting thousands (tens of thousands?) of simul

Why is this sufficient for HN but not for Reddit? If opinion is less divided on Reddit I'd also expect it to be less of a problem and thus less likely to require (auto) moderator input.

I found this to be okay as a relatively speedy intro. It's quite disorganised though - some concepts and terms appear to be assumed but then introduced properly later on. I was wondering if this was intentional or not (maybe you are su

This doesn't seem like enough for Switzerland - what do you think? Based on my experience this would be on the very low side. The previous vote on minimum wage was quoted as working out at around 4000CHF/month. Granted, most basic

Technically, under English law, I believe it isn't. The definition involves penetrative sex. It's normally something like sexual assault instead (arguably adding somewhat to gender politics).
