There doesn't seem to much in the article to suggest it doesn't trickle down, so the headline is rather sensationalist. They are saying that lots of it goes off-shore, but unspent wealth will not "trickle down" anyway (g

Maybe they switch to alternatives (larger, further away) at around this price level. Other commentators have noted that you don't pay much less further away, just get much more house than you need. An increase in supply and subsequent

Many people live in houses with poor insulation or other such problems. They may be tenants with landlords who will not fix this, or live in areas where fixing it is regulated in way that increases the cost by 5-10x (think building regulati

Pretty sad that this is top comment. Obviously increased consumption and decreased physical activity is the direct cause but everyone here knows this already. It's not the key problem. The key problem is that for most people this is ha

In one of the most flagrantly opportunistic political redefinitions I've ever seen, the UK recently raised the minimum wage and called it Living Wage: sufficiently accurate to be arguable but completely co-opting the concept without ev

What is the motivation for this question? If written in Go, do you ask why not OCaml? Or think OCaml somehow especially unsuitable?

I'm not sure how you're framing that as a class issue. Her concerns were about the dishonesty, and it sounds like the supervisor or Clinton herself would have got the same treatment.

Interesting. I have one major disagreement. This: "This seems to me like a good reason for application maintainers to carefully test the updates" Doesn't seem remotely feasible. Every security release should be manually QA&#x

Strangely composed article: "Norman" is introduced from nowhere along with the multiple authors. Some valid points but all rather overstated ("destroying design") and finishes with admitting that a lot was fixed in iOS 9
