Not sure the state of OCR in other languages, especially obscure Indian ones. Might be cheaper to just have someone straight transcribe/translate these.

How would you feel about buying an ad-free version at a higher price point (like Amazon does with the Kindle)? Part of the problem might be that the console hardware is somewhat subsidized, and the only way to recoup is software sales.

Most people are going to come here and mention how they are not planning on fixing the problem. Put it into context. Heroku made this change 3 years ago, and also has had no issues admitting the change to users. Their documentation has lagg

Regardless of all this, Tesla should look hard at a mapping solution that ties with their onboard sensors - the car can intelligently tell you where to stop and charge and how long to charge for by knowing where you are trying to get and wh

I'm always wary of an API that I don't pay for, less likely of a financial motivator for an API provider to maintain status quo.

Good software idea as you're going after a market that existing cloud vendors cannot (in terms of interoperability) in fear that it might cannibalize their own market share. In the end though, I can't see this being much of a consumer app,

Ah, I see. Thanks, I can buy that argument. A good argument can then also be that you should never trust emails outside your own provider? If you are sending to an @gmail to @gmail, you should be covered a bit better?

Where does it say that the NSA has open access to Google's data? It says that the NSA most likely collaborated with Google as part of an investigation of the hacking of their Chinese servers. The burden of proof being so low here on HN on m

The email may not be encrypted, but as long as the data transfer was made under a secure protocol, there's not much of a difference. Only difference is that Google themselves can view your email in plaintext. But in terms of a man in the mi

Not sure how this relates. Article/interviewee is stipulating that the NSA intercepts all communications at the telecom level (as far as I understand). It doesn't say how this device also magically breaks encryption on encrypted data. I gue

Thought my connection to Google was almost always under the HTTPS protocol... can someone explain to me how the NSA has broken SSL encryption to possibly THE largest internet company in the world?

Show HN isn't about advertising to an HN market. It is about showing HN what you have built.

Great question. If only the same type/size exists on a machine, then these priority numbers are just a rough measure of relative CPU power (between plans).

If anyone believes that Facebook isn't already doing retargeting based on cookies they are completely wrong. It isn't a publicly available feature for advertisers, but they do have it setup and running for specific partners.

Should add an option for users to disable this (like remember me on login forms)... not good for public computers if you don't know the form you just filled in but didn't submit will retain the data. Other than that, cool!

I think its more an indictment of today's culture. This is completely anecdotal, but I think its becoming increasingly more fashionable to wear unknown brands, as long as the quality is there. Its a big departure from the Ed Hardy or Afflic

I think its a step in the correct version if HTML5 is every able to compete with native apps on mobile. HTML5 needs better access to hardware elements. We can see two out of these five here - the camera and battery level.

Highly doubtful that an election machine would be able to pass any standard tests that would allow it to be specifically rigged like that by an election worker. If it were built to calibrate on only part of a screen, it would be ripe for ri

It depends on the purpose of your education. In an ideal world, it would be just to learn, but I think employers at some level look at grades/school as a qualification process.
