These M1 Macs are more like iPads than Intel Macs. Jail breaking them would be the first step, but after that one would need a ton of reverse engineering to write all the drivers for all the little custom HW built into M1 SoC. I have never

Chromebooks would be a perfect machine. Except that most chromebooks don't have premium features: dim screens, capped at 1080p, cheap Intel CPUs, plastic chassis, ... I am still waiting for a premium chromebook with ARM CPU and great b

This is all speculation, considering original Project Asturia didn't go anywhere. It is very unlikely to launch. The only case this could work would be for Surface Neo and Duo devices. That way, those devices can actually run Windows a

The problem is not the defaults. The problem is choice. When the motto is "just works", the system needs defaults that works. But savvy user needs to be able to change these things. A more common use case for this kind of choice i

Considering most of heavy lifting in graphical apps like Adobe suite is done on GPU, It seems like these apps would be faster than Intel on M1 even with Rosetta.

It is not a fair comparison since 4900HS is a 35w chip. A fair comparison would be 4750U, 15w chip with score of 1184/8008

Most GPL software is not wholly owned by a single entity. You can re-license your own code, but you cannot relicense all the GPL libraries that you linked into.

I wonder when they would start shipping Google TV software on smart TVs. Every high-end TV today comes with some sort of OS pre-installed. So a set-top box in 2020 is not a very popular device. Even Apple figured it out and released Apple T

It is a VM with a lot of hacks. For most tasks it is good but for complicated situations it will get you. I used to run Linux VM inside HyperV before WSL2 released, and it worked like a charm. WSL2 just adds a lot of hacks to integrate Wind
