The pricing issue is valid, though. It's hard to use a lot of these tools in anger without having to go to fairly expensive plans.

This blog is so much fun to read. Super well written and researched, and it definitely scratches an itch for me. A lot of these tools seemed boring and mysterious to me when I was growing up, but seeing that these tools were actually alread

I'm curious to see how this will affect WGSL as used by WebGPU. It's probably not a bad idea if that gets replaced at some point, to make it even easier to port shaders from native applications to ones running in the browser.

Your argument is conflating smart phones with social media apps and you seem to be assuming that kids wouldn't have access to their phone in other locations where they are unsupervised, subject to peer pressure, etc. The "just s

At least on The Mandolarian this is what happened. Everything behind the actors in the camera's frame would be green while the rest of the volume was used to have a lowres lighting reference for the scene. So essentially it would be a

For reference, the surface cache referred to in the article is similar to the one in Quake. Basically, you have a bunch of regular textures that you want to use when rasterizing your polygons. On top of that you want to blend low resolution
