I had a company I was talking to ask, and say up front that they would need pay stubs as proof.

That's why part of this law states that the employer has to provide the salary range upon request.

Why are you so hostile to someone wanting to know the most basic parameters of the job?

In the US, it is flat out illegal to place any prohibitions on employees sharing salary data with one another, obvious caveats about "at-will" and employers lying about why they fired you notwithstanding.

Not so simple. For one, I need health insurance. And, especially now in the US, trying to strike out on your own while needing that is quite dangerous.

But eventually, the robots, unable to cope with what they've got to do, will turn to robot drugs, robot alcohol, and other robot-destructive behaviors to escape.

I read it quite closely. It claims that's what it wants to do, but it doesn't actually do things that would accomplish that.

I'm not seeing anything there that would help those who can't afford care. And charity is woefully inadequate, and still doesn't address needing care today.

This narrative that only engineers deserve to have interesting and fulfilling jobs needs to end. It's nothing but elitism, and adding the "#firstworldproblems" doesn't do anything to help your cause.
