I have to disagree with the other commenters as to its suitability as general object code. I find it too high-level, with insufficient control over the lower-level details. For Skulpt (my Python-in-JS implementation) it works "ok" because J

Wow, slick! Browser for environment/introspection is definitely a killer feature. What does "save/commit" do? Is there a git-y thing behind it? It'd be nice to be able to have it auto-push to github et al. I get a generic "Error committing

Had the birds seen this happen before? I can obviously teach a dog to do that too, if they just associate put-rocks-in-worm-tube with get-food. The source ( http://www.cell.com/current-biology/abstract/S0960-9822(09)0... ) makes it sound li

jquery was having problems caused by (apparently) getting hammered by Bing last week.. http://twitter.com/jeresig/status/2935982153 I do notice that use python.org/docs an awful lot though. :)

Hmm, sorry about that, I only tried the demo console on Ubuntu and Windows, and only with a US keyboard. I haven't found a non-insane way of doing it.. see f.e. http://www.quirksmode.org/js/keys.html Anyone have any pointers? (or patches?

As snprbob86 pointed out, that already exists: Pyjamas @ pyjs.org. I used pyjamas a while back for a couple toy projects. It's quite nice and sounds like what you're looking for. With Skulpt, I wanted to avoid the build step that Pyjamas ha

Hrm, sorry about Opera. I tested in a few browsers, but I confess my browser-dom-fu is weak. From the look of it I'm telling MooTools to stop that event, but backspace doesn't seem to stop in Opera either. Maybe they don't want people disab

The version is the "still lame" version where I haven't implemented those functions yet. :) Parser-wise it's 2.6.2, but those functions you mention are in C code in real-Python, so I need to (re-)write them in JS. You can see the list of su

Neat. ObjJ and Capp were my inspiration for doing a browser language without an offline convert process, so... thanks :) I was wondering if I could use Cappuccino as the "Skulpt GUI toolkit" too, but that might start to get a bit silly with

Link? I don't see it at http://codespeak.net/pypy/dist/pypy/doc/docindex.html#pypy-d... (a js interpreter, but no translator). If I were to guess, not having seen PyPy's: I'd like something about 100x smaller than PyPy seems to be, and I

I just can't get myself to love JS the way I do other languages... so, this is my current little weekend project. It's a source-to-source translator so it interops reasonably with JS and should perform similarly also. The parser is derived

I'm not sure I buy this as the reason. They're not going to drop the Flash version on YT, and people aren't going to upgrade to a very new browser with On2-supporting-<video> for no obvious difference in quality. My guess, knowing n

Sorry to keep talking to myself. I kept the FF window open and bizarrely, after reloading the IE (since I assumed that one ought to work) the fonts showed up in the FF instance too. Launched a few apps, and it seems that any fonts (/sizes

OK, just tried it on FF35 and IE7. IE7 gets a runtime error. FF loads and the UI comes up, but there's no text visible (on what looks like the "Start" menu, and a largish box with expandable bits on the right. Vista x64 in case that matters

Agreed here. I don't know how common it is, but since OSX purchases can't really be separated from hardware, and the hardware is basically vanilla x86 in a snazzy case, it (theoretically) doesn't prove anything.

I think I agree with jrockway. I understand (now) that there's only string keys in objects, but that's the random part. Why have [] syntax for "arrays" then? It's the hashing behaviour that's the 'gotcha'. Sure, x.a should stringize 'a' to

I get the impression you don't know JS any better than I do. [] and {} seem to be identical, except that [] one auto-increments a key-as-string in its initialization syntax. Yes, an _ before the string would fix that particular interactive
